How to Create Inspired Content In A Time Crunch

By Barbara Roy, Content & Communications Strategist / Writer

Whether you need to regularly deliver a high volume of content, or your content resources are limited, these tactics can save you creation time.

Abbreviated Posts

No time for blogging? Try bite-sized nuggets instead. I did a writing tips series like this for awhile. It keeps your communications going but requires a lot less effort to pull together. If you're really short on time, you could sometimes substitute a poll, quiz or brief commentary on an industry article.

Cheat Sheet

If there's no pressing information to cover, you can go back to your list of ideas.

Backup Plan

This one takes a bit of pre-planning so, busy writers often don't get around to it. In your spare time (yeah, I know--right!), work on articles for your evergreen repository. Because evergreen content is universally and continually relevant, and not dependent on a particular event or date, it can help you fill content gaps when you don't have more newsworthy information to share.

Repurposing Content

The great thing about maintaining a topical content archive is the ability to search for previous content you might be able to repurpose in the future. Here are a few ways to give a fresh spin to previous posts, articles and more.

  • Turn content into an infographic

  • Make a list of related topics for a series

  • Do a drill-down into the subtopics

  • Write on a previous topic from a different angle

Outsource

Consider outsourcing some of your content creation. You don't have to do it all yourself, and outsourcing some of your key needs can establish a content foundation that springboards larger projects.
